Because the light note of hazelnut in this chocolate-hazelnut fudge comes from Nutella instead of chopped nuts, the texture stays smooth, creamy, and dreamy. You can make this quick and easy recipe for nearly any occasion. 

In my photos, you'll see I used mini cupcake paper liners to serve the squares, choosing colors appropriate for February 14th. But you can choose any design that reflects whatever holiday you're celebrating, including birthday parties, graduation days (school colors), baby showers... 

Whatever liners you choose, you'll be ready for any gathering that comes along, including Chocolate Lovers' Day. (Oops, I mean Valentine's Day! :))

My husband was highly skeptical about this recipe, but after tasting it—and more of it, and even more of itMarc declared it to be nearly as good as his mother's. Even better, it's a snap to make.

Microwave fudge is nothing new, of course. You will find renditions of it all over the Interweb. This (crunchless) chocolate-hazelnut version is simply my take on the ingredients, ratios, and process. 

Why do I say crunchless? Because the light note of hazelnut in this recipe comes from Nutella, so the fudge stays smooth, creamy, and dreamy.

What is Nutella?  

Okay, I’m sure 99% of you know what Nutella is, but for the 1% who don’t it’s a delicious spread (not unlike peanut butter) that blends chocolate and hazelnuts. If you’ve never bought it, look for it in your grocery where peanut butter is sold.

5 Minute Nutella Fudge

Makes one 8x8 pan of fudge
5 minutes to prepare and 3 Hours to chill


1 (14 ounce) can of sweetened condensed milk
2 Tablespoons unsalted butter
1 (12-ounce) package of good quality semisweet chocolate chips
1/4 teaspoon Kosher salt
1-1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1/2 cup Nutella chocolate-hazelnut spread (room temperature)

Step 1 – Prep pan: Crisscross the bottom of an 8 x 8 square pan with two sheets of parchment paper. The parchment sheets should be long enough to extend, like handles, over the edges of the pan. 

Step 2 – Melt with microwave: Place the milk, pieces of butter, and chocolate chips into a microwave safe bowl. Heat in 30 second increments, stirring between sessions, until the mixture is melted and smooth. Be patient with this process, taking care not to burn the chocolate.

TIP: Do not simply microwave this mixture for 2 solid minutes without stirring. You run the risk of scorching the chocolate and completely ruining the fudge. Once chocolate is burned, there is no saving it. Be sure to melt it slowly, in increments. 

Step 3 – Finish the fudge: Once the chocolate mixture is melted, add the salt, vanilla, and Nutella. Stir from the bottom, lifting and folding to blend everything well. Pour into your lined pan and use a rubber spatula to smooth the top, leveling it off. 

Step 4 – Chill and cut: Chill the pan in the fridge until the block of fudge is firm. This will take about 3 hours. Remove the block of fudge, cut into small squares, and serve in mini cupcake paper liners. Match the design of the liners to reflect whatever you’re celebrating, and you’ll be ready for almost any holiday or party that comes along. 

To store, place fudge in an airtight container and keep in the refrigerator, and eat with plenty of joy!
